Megafires, Forest Management and The Carbon Market

Who should attend? RC&D Council members, Conservation assistance providers, Tribal- Federal- State- County- Township officials and land managers, Interested landowners
Join us on Friday March 8th for the Minnesota Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils (MARCD) Annual Winter Meeting where we will hear about and discuss "Preparing for Megafires, Fuels, Forest Management and the Carbon Market".
We'll hear a presentation from Dr. Marissa Spence, Forestry Manager, Climate Action Reserve. Marissa will review two new carbon programs that incentivize active forest management, including: the Reducing Emissions from Megafires (REM) methodology, which incentivizes fuel treatments that reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire and the Biochar Protocol, which rewards the use of waste biomass to produce a carbon stable product.
We will take time to discuss Megafire Suppression and Biochar production in Northern MN and the role Carbon Markets could have. Those attending can also opt to sit in on the MARCD Annual Winter Business Meeting.
